Yes, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used in the UK must be reguarly inspected by law under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 and depending on use, the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998.
